Our House Competition is a vibrant and essential part of school life. It fosters a strong sense of belonging and friendly competition across all year levels. One recent international student described as ‘like something out of Harry Potter”. Our four houses—Hīnau (blue), Rātā (red), Kowhai (yellow), and Ngaio (green)—are named after New Zealand native trees, each of which are planted in the centre of our main courtyard.
The competition is a true showcase of school spirit and diverse talent, spanning across all areas of school life including:
- Sporting events such as Athletics, Swimming, Volleyball, and Tug-O-War
- Cultural and Creative activities such as Haka, House Video, and Art
- Academic challenges like Spelling Bee, the Chase, and Maths Week
- Service and Community-focused events such as the 40 Hour Famine and Shave for a Cure
The most recent competition was won by the lively Hīnau house (blue).
